POTA from California to Europe

Another quick activation at Chino Hills State Park, featuring a contact with Europe.

With hazy, smokey skies from the nearby Southern California wildfires, I made a quick stop at Chino Hills State Park (US-1139) for another POTA activation. This time I had the Lab599 TX-500 with me along with the Chelegance MC-750. It was as hot morning, and the temperature hit 97f when I packed up after the activation.

Propagation was interesting, with 20m being spotty and fading in and out. 15m, however, was working great and I heard a number of stations in Europe, including a successful contact with an operator in the Czech Republic...on 10 watts!

Once again, I had the park almost completely to myself and only saw a few hikers and mountain bikers throughout the morning.
